Healthy Drinking with Jamba Juice’s Fruit and Vegetable Juices
Like everyone at this time of year, I’m back to focusing on my health. I’m determined to stop drinking diet soda, eat less cookies, buy less lattes, and eat more fruits and vegetables. I’m going to dust off the juicer that’s been sitting on the counter for the last couple of months and use it at least 3 times a week.
I say that, but I’m not going to kid myself. Part of the problem is that it’s easier to go buy a latte than to wash, cut, chop, vegetables and then clean the juicer. So when I’m out I’m going to try to buy juices instead of coffee. One of the places I’ll go is Jamba Juice. The smoothie chain has expanded their juicing offering and most stores are being remodeled to have juicing stations.
I went to an event last month at Jamba in Santa Monica near 3rd Street Promenade and tried the Kale, Apple, Pineapple juice blend with chia seeds. It has this much kale (pictured below) in every serving. That’s how I would make it at home, but I love that I can get it on the go.
The man behind the kale in this picture is Jake Steinfeld who created Body by Jake. Jake has trained many celebrities including Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones and Temple of Doom. He was there to give fitness tips, talk about why he likes Jamba, and promote his book Take a Shot about how he was one of the creators of Major League Lacrosse.
We also learned training tips from FitOrbit personal training, which is online personal training. Jake gave all of the attendees an 8-week meal and workout program. I’m going to try it and I’ll let you know how it works.
There were a lot of great fitness tips like this one demonstrated below about how to do crunches while waiting at stop lights.
But that afternoon was about juices and we tried quite a few. I liked the less sweet ones and my favorite was definitely the kale. My next favorite was the Orange Carrot Karma with greek yogurt. We’ve been going to Jamba a lot lately because my boys can have a smoothie, their favorite drink now that I’ve cut them off soda, and I can have a juice. I can do what I do at home, which is to sneak in protein with the greek yogurt or vegetables.
If you want to try a Jamba Juice, the company has a campaign going with the new Isis app. Isis is a mobile wallet available on smartphones (currently not iPhones) that allows consumers to pay with purchases using the phone. Jamba Juice is offering a free small smoothie or 12 oz. juice every time you pay with Isis up until 1 million are given away.
