Kayaking in Marina Del Rey

We had one of our most fun days as a family right here in Los Angeles over Father’s Day. We rented kayaks from Marina Paddle and kayaked to Mother’s Beach in Marina Del Rey.

My husband bought a Groupon for half off – it’s normally $50 for 2 hours for a double kayak – and we got them for $25 each. My husband and I each took one of the kids and we were off in the Marina. It was fun/scary to be so close to the boats.

We had been kayaking twice before last summer in Seattle and in Alaska, but never here in our own backyard. It was a beautiful day with little wind and lots of sun.

Kayaking is pretty easy to get the hang of and Marina Paddle told us to make sure to stay to the right or left to avoid the boats.

My husband and I were in the back to help steer the kayak. The boys did a great job paddling.

We saw a lot of boats, paddle boarders, and even some seals. It was fun watching this seal make his way onto the sunny back of this boat.

We kayaked from Marina Paddle to Mother’s Beach and then to Fisherman’s Village.

It was a great time and such a bargain. I think next time we’ll try paddle boarding.
