Even though the Democratic Convention is all the way across the country in Charlotte, North Carolina, Los Angeles is well-represented.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is there, acting as Convention Chairman, and getting some attention for a controversy over a voice vote on the party platform.
LA City Council member Eric Garcetti, who’s running for Mayor in 2013, is there as a member of the DNC Executive Board and Vice-Chairman of the Rules Committee.
Wendy Greuel, LA City Controller, who’s also running for Mayor in 2013, was there in an unofficial capacity, but was seen and interviewed by local news outlets.
US Representative Karen Bass, representing the 33rd District in California, which encompasses Culver City, was a speaker on the floor of the convention.
And John Pérez, Speaker of the California Assembly from the 46th District (which includes Los Angeles), was a speaker on the floor of the Convention earlier this week.
