My boys and I had the experience of our lives recently thanks to the Aquarium of the Pacific. We went on a Harbor Breeze Cruise and saw several endangered blue whales up close.
The 3 plus hour cruise on a high speed catamaran took us to the waters off of Palos Verdes where we were lucky enough to spot a mama and baby whale.
There are about 1,500 blue whales that spend their summer months off the coast of California. When it starts to get colder they’ll move south.
After the cruise we went inside the Aquarium to see the Whales; Voices in the Sea exhibit. My boys learned about whale habitat, what the whales sound like under water, and were able to see rare footage of humpback whales.
The blue whale is the largest animal on the planet. The video below shows only a portion of the whale’s true size. Aquarium of the Pacific runs two whale watching trips a day through the summer months.
