Pacific Islander Festival
Aquarium of the Pacific

The Aquarium of the Pacific invites families to its Pacific Islander Festival happening on Saturday, June 2nd and Sunday, June 3rd (from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day). Families will learn about the diverse cultures of the Pacific Islands and enjoy traditional island music, dance, and cultural crafts. There will be games, live entertainment, demonstrations, and more. The Festival is included in general Aquarium admission. (Click here for a coupon for $10 off adult admission). 24th Annual Gilmore Heritage Auto Show

The 24th Annual Gilmore Heritage Auto Show takes place on Saturday, June 2nd from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be about 100 cars on display, “everything from customs, hot rods, trucks, and more.” This year’s theme is “Low and Slow – A Tribute to American Lowriders.” The Auto Show is free.

Story Time: Beatrice’s Goat

The Fowler Museum hosts a special story time on Friday, June 1st (as well as the first and third Friday of each month). Story time begins at 11:30 am, when families will enjoy a reading of Beatrice’s Goat, based on the true story of how a young Ugandan girl was able to attend school after her family received a goat. After the reading, a Museum Educator will lead families on an exploration of related artworks.

13th Annual Lummis Days Festival

The 13th Annual Lummis Days Festival is happening this weekend, Friday, June 1st through Sunday, June 3rd. “The Festival of Northeast L.A.” is free and features a variety of special activities (including poetry, art, musical performances, and more) at different sites (including the Southwest Museum, Sycamore Grove Park, and the Lummis Home). Check the website for a schedule of events.

Hot Wheels Garage
Automobile Driving Museum
610 Lairport St., El Segundo, CA

The Automobile Driving Museum is hosting its monthly Hot Wheels Garage on Saturday, June 2nd from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Children will see life-size Hot Wheels cars, participate in art projects, enjoy face painting, a balloon artist, racing, games, and more. Admission is free for children 10 and under. Adults are $10 each, children 11-17 are $5. $2 ice cream sundaes, in a 1950’s-themed ice cream parlor, will also be on sale. 

Family Festival

The Getty Center hosts its Family Festival on Saturday, June 2nd from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. This free interactive festival is “inspired by the exhibitions Rembrandt and the Inspiration of India and Beyond the Nile: Egypt and the Classical World.” Enjoy live dance performances, create arts and crafts, and more.

Home Depot Kids Workshop: Classic Car

Home Depot invites kids to a free Kids Workshop on Saturday, June 2nd from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. At this free workshop, kids will build a wooden car and then be able to customize it with paint and stickers. Children will be able to keep their car and will receive a certificate of achievement, workshop apron, and commemorative pin (while supplies last). The workshop is recommended for children 5-12 years of age. Register online to reserve your spot in the workshop.

Aloha Festival

The Aloha Festival begins Friday, June 1st and concludes Sunday, June 3rd (from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm each day). This free event celebrates the beginning of summer. The Festival features children’s entertainment, activities, and crafts as well as food and music from the islands of Samoa, Tahiti, and Hawaii. 

Family Fun and Wellness Fair

Pretend City Children’s Museum hosts its 9th Annual Family Fun and Wellness Fair on Saturday, June 2nd from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. This free event features health screenings, live performances, face painting, games, prizes, and more. (The event is free and is not part of visiting the museum; the event takes place in the parking lot).

SORO Fest
S. Robertson Blvd. (between Cadillac and Cattaraugus), Los Angeles, CA

The 21st Annual SORO Fest is planned for Sunday, June 3rd from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The SORO Fest features a live music stage, vendors, community information, merchandise, and a Kids Zone (including arcade games, a rock-climbing wall, and free arts and crafts). There will also be a “pet village,” “safety village,” food trucks, and more.
