23rd Annual Hermosa Beach Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
begins near City Hall on Valley Dr., Hermosa Beach, CA

Families can join businesses, local organizations, and school marching bands at the 23rd Annual Hermosa Beach Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. The Parade is happening on Saturday, March 11th beginning at 11:00 am. It’s a seven-block long extravaganza featuring bagpipers, floats, horses, and more. There will be lots of music, food, and fun.

Grand Park is the site of the Downtown Bookfest happening on Saturday, March 11th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. This free event celebrates the poetry of Emily Dickinson in conjunction with the City of Los Angeles’s Big Read. Families will enjoy live performances, the chance to create their own handmade books using dried plants, a photo booth with Victorian-era props, pop-up bookshops, and more.

Girl Scouts 105th Birthday Celebration

To commemorate the 105th birthday of the Girl Scouts of the USA, the Santa Monica History Museum will be offering half-price admission on Saturday, March 11th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Families will also be treated to cupcakes and lemonade (while supplies last) and, at 11:00 am, a special toast and sing-along. While you’re there be sure to check out the Museum’s exhibit The Journey of Girl Scouts: Empowering Young Women.

43rd Annual Festival of the Kite

The 43rd Annual Festival of the Kite is happening on Sunday, March 12th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The Festival of the Kite is one of the longest-running kite festivals in Southern California. Families will enjoy colorful kites high above and fun for all ages. You can bring a kite from home or purchase one at the Festival to join in the fun.

Mad Science Sunday: Paint With Physics

On Sunday, March 12th, kids can “Paint with Physics” at Kidspace Children’s Museum. The day’s events include physics demonstrations, creating in their play laboratory, and more. Children will create works of art while using pendulums, catapults, and spinning wheels. It’s a day of science and art fun. The event is included in general Museum admission.
