Haunted Arroyo
Kidspace Children’s Museum

Kidspace Children’s Museum invites families to its Haunted Arroyo on Saturday, October 7th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Museum’s Arroyo Adventure will be transformed and glowing with ghouls and mystery. Children can light themselves up with glow-in-the-dark paint, learn how to make ghoul slime, participate in the monster mash dance party, learn about nocturnal animals, and much more. Admission to the event is $8.

The whole family is invited to an Opening Day celebration at The Wallis on Sunday, October 8th. It’s a day of dance, music, and theater for everyone. The fun begins at 12:00 pm and includes a variety of family-friendly activities including Dance Sunday with Debbie Allen and Friends (at 12:00 pm), an outdoor concert by the Urban Renewal Project (at 3:00 pm), and more. Celebrate autumn at the Virginia Avenue Park Fall Festival on Saturday, October 7th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This fun, community event includes a petting zoo, storytelling, live music, pumpkin carving, a magic show, kiddie train rides, and more.

CicLAvia – Heart of LA

CicLAvia returns on Sunday, October 8th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The annual Heart of LA Route takes participants through Chinatown, Echo Park, Downtown L.A., and Boyle Heights. If you’re not familiar with CicLAvia, it’s a non-car event where streets are only open for cyclists, pedestrians, and runners. It’s not a race, so families can explore at their own pace. You can enter and exit anywhere along the route. Check the website for information about the route and safety tips.

The Big Draw LA – Make Your Mark in the Park

Ryman Arts invites families to its Make Your Mark in the Park event happening on Sunday, October 8th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Ryman Arts students will lead free drawing activities for artists of all ability levels. Different booths will offer workshops on such things as urban landscape drawing, paper airplanes, animation station, and more. There will also be music, food trucks, and more. (You can ride your bikes over, if you’re participating in CicLAvia!)

Celebrate fall at a free Creation Station event at Rancho Los Cerritos on Saturday, October 7th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. October’s theme is “Outrageous Orange” and celebrates autumn and Halloween. Children will use a variety of colorful materials and experiment with a variety of arts and crafts.

Car Show and Drive-in Movie
Paramount Ranch

Paramount Ranch is the site of a free car show and drive-in movie on Saturday, October 7th from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Families will view vehicles from several eras which will be on display from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Movie tours will also take place from 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm. And then at 7:00 pm, families will enjoy the feature film Back to the Future. Families will be able to view the film from their vehicles or they can bring chairs to sit in designated seating areas. Food trucks will be on site as well.

Next Tuesday, October 10th from 10am-12pm, kids can enjoy a FREE performance by children’s musical artist Rhythm Child. The free Kids Corner event happens every Tuesday through the end of the month.
