The Salsa Festival is coming to Pershing Square in Downtown LA July 7th & 8th from noon to 8 p.m. What will you find at the Salsa Festival? Tons of delicious salsas to sample in the Salsa Tasting Tent, along with local food vendors offering up their best selections throughout the festival. Live salsa dancing, top LA Latin bands, an interactive kids zone, and a beer and margarita bar will make the Salsa Fest the perfect place to spend a summer afternoon and spice up your weekend! The event is free, but tickets are required to sample salsa.

Will Rogers State Historic Park

Enjoy the classic film, E.T., at the Will Rogers State Historic Park on Saturday, July 7th. Doors open at 6:00 pm, the band performs at 6:30 pm, and then at 8:30 the movie begins. No tickets are available at the door; all tickets must be purchased in advance online. Ticket information is available online.

Late Night Fridays

La Brea Tar Pits and Museum

On Friday, July 6th (and each Friday through August 31st), families can enjoy Late Night Fridays at the Tar Pits and Museum. The Museum will be open from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and offer free general admission. Special activities will be offered during these Late Night Fridays including behind-the-scenes tours, a 3-D documentary, and more. Some of these special activities do require a fee. Tickets are available online.

Pasadena Symphony and POPS: Music Under the Stars

Enjoy an outdoor concert on Saturday, July 7th at Pasadena City Hall. Gates open at 6:00 pm, and the show starts at 8:00 pm. The concert will be about 75 minutes long and will feature a “celebration of music from Broadway, Hollywood and the Great American Songbook, featuring soloists taken straight from Broadway and the JPL Chorus.” Before the show, dine from the food trucks that will be on-site, have fun with a “musical instrument petting zoo,” and other pre-concert family fun. No tickets are needed. Families may bring lawn chairs and blankets, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Abbot Kinney First Fridays

Abbot Kinney Blvd. (between Venice Blvd. and Westminster), Venice, CA 90291

On Friday, July 6th (and the first Friday of each month), families will enjoy a selection of food trucks on Abbot Kinney. Select shops will remain open late, select restaurants will have special promotions, and be on the lookout for special events in pop-up locations. Most food trucks set up at 4:00 pm and are ready to go at 5:00 pm. The fun is scheduled from 5:00 to 11:00 pm each Friday night (though some venues may stay open later).

Dance Sundays with Debbie Allen and Friends

Enjoy a fun, free introduction to Salsa at Dance Sundays with Debbie Allen and Friends on Sunday, July 8th. This free event will get your heart rate up and is guaranteed to bring some smiles and laughs. The family-friendly dance class is from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Mud Mania: A Celebration of Adobe

Rancho Los Cerritos celebrates Mud Mania: A Celebration of Adobe on Sunday, July 8th from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. This fun event will give families the chance to learn about adobe, one of the oldest building materials around. Children will compete in mud relay races, make adobe bricks, construct a mini-adobe home, and more (and all while learning about Southern California’s history). Less messy activities will also be offered including fossil-making, paper crafts, and more. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Wear old clothes and don’t forget to bring towels and a change of clothes! Tickets are available online ($5 for children and $7 for adults).
