Larchmont Sanctuary Spa Review. #LosAngeles #spa

Lugging three kids in and out of car seats all day will make you as strong as an ox. Unfortunately, it’ll also leave your back in ruins. So I was thrilled when I was invited as a guest to spend an afternoon at Larchmont Sanctuary and Spa, located in a cozily renovated house near Larchmont Village.

When I walked in, I was guided to the lady’s room, where I changed into a plush cotton robe that felt like being wrapped inside a Charmin roll.

From there, I was led to the lounge that had a fireplace, deep cushioned sofas and two choices of infused water: strawberry-mint and hibiscus. I recommend the hibiscus, if only for novelty’s sake.

Next, I went down the hall to a private room with a giant copper tub. Now we’re talking.

We have a bathtub at home but it’s overpopulated with kids’ toys and a long soak doesn’t fit into my daily life, when I often have to decide between drinking coffee or putting on makeup. Maybe, though, if our tub was like this one, I’d make more time for it.

Himalayan salt candles line the countertop, jacuzzi jets provide mountains of bubbles and, instead of a flat bottom, there’s a contoured base that’s perfect for reclining. The only other piece of furniture in the room is a small table that houses a bottle of champagne. I haven’t done extensive research on the topic, but I’d make a bet that this is the most centrally located copper tub in the city. I could’ve stayed in there for three days but, after 20 minutes, it was time for my Holistic Wellness Massage.

My masseuse, Jessica, happened to resemble Jessica Chastain. (Only in LA, right?) She showed me outside, past a little garden, to a cabbana where I laid down for my massage. “Do you have any problem areas?” she inquired. “I have 3 kids under 5,” I replied. As a Mom, she understood and wasted no time getting to work. Within seconds, I knew I’d settled into a Grade A massage.

After she had me take several deep breaths of lavender essential oil, Jessica successfully kneaded away all the times my 2-year-old hung on my back, my 4-year-old insisted on being carried in the Trader Joe’s parking lot, and the late night nursing sessions with my 3- month-old.

With my eyes closed, it was easy to imagine being in a Caribbean cabana instead of a few blocks north of Beverly. Jessica’s general assessment was that I had deep tightness under my traps—the scapula wing section of the back—with extreme knots. Masterfully, she ironed them away before sending me back out into traffic, all greased up and ready to resume my role as an ox.

Larchmont Sanctuary Spa is located at 331 N. Larchmont Blvd., Los Angeles, California, 90004. For more information, visit the website or call (323) 466 1028.

I was not compensated for this post. However, I was given spa treatments for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
