Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop has terrific healthy food and now a cocktail bar, too! I recently got a chance to sample some of the new cocktails they’re pouring and of course some of the food pairings they’ve got to go with them and they are spectacular!
I’ve also started shooting a cocktail video series with our friend Mary Kay Holmes from Daily Hot Guy and we were lucky enough to do some filming for one of our episodes there.
Hollywood is the Newest Location
Greenleaf Gourmet Chop Shop has several locations around Los Angeles, including the Century City location I reviewed here, but this newest location in Hollywood is the first and only one so far to have the full cocktail bar.
We sampled cocktails called the Mexican Mule, the Brown Derby, the Pretty Woah-Man and the Antioxidant Punch. They are all unbelievably delicious, made from fresh ingredients, right before your eyes, or with special infusions they’ve created in-house, and some amazing garnishes, including the toasted rosemary on top of the Brown Derby.
The Mexican Mule uses tequila instead of vodka, house-made ginger beer, and is served in a mason jar instead of a copper mug. The Brown Derby is served in our favorite glass (a coupe) and is made with bourbon and grapefruit juice. The Pretty Woah-man gets its name from the serrano pepper kick in the mouth it gives you, and the Antioxidant Punch is made with juice from fresh blueberries with rum, VeeV and Acai Liqueur. You almost get healthier while drinking it. (Not really.)
Jonathan Rollo, the owner and our bartender for the day, chose some delicious food to pair with each cocktail he served us. We tried the super fresh ceviche with shrimp, the grilled shrimp with a rich remoulade sauce, the short rib sliders which were as rich and tasty as they look and the beef tacos. Yum!
These are all terrific things to sample with the cocktails or without – and don’t miss the rest of the menu, which is filled with delicious, imaginative, fresh, healthy food.
The setting at the Hollywood location of Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop is just beautiful, with warm wood tones all around. It’s got an open flow and the bar actually has two sides – indoors and outside on the patio as well. The atmosphere is fresh, fun and relaxing, and you feel like you’re in a hip, happening spot for sure.
There’s also a private room in the back if you’re having a special party, or you just want some quiet with your meal. Either way, head to Hollywood soon to try the cocktails and the food at Greenleaf Gourmet ChopShop because there are so many more choices than the ones we’ve listed here.
