Discovery Cube LA’s Rescue Exhibit Opens This Weekend

Helicopter Simulators, Surf Rescues, and a Whole Lot of Science—Discovery Cube LA’s Rescue Exhibit Puts Kids in the Hot Seat

Move over, museum silence—Discovery Cube Los Angeles is about to get loud, high-energy, and hands-on. Opening May 24, The Rescue Exhibition is coming in with sirens blazing, offering curious kids (and let’s be honest, a few excited parents) the chance to experience what it’s like to be a real-life hero.

This is not your typical button-pushing exhibit. Visitors will climb into a full-size helicopter simulator, navigate rescue missions on a virtual jet ski, spot infrared heat signals, and even fight digital fires. Yes, it’s science. But it’s science with adrenaline.

With seventeen interactive stations, the exhibit takes guests through land, sea, and air rescues, all while quietly teaching the physics, tech, and tactics that help emergency responders save lives. Think: buoyancy experiments, fire triangle demos, and temperature mapping—cleverly disguised as play.

And if your kid needs more convincing? Let’s talk inflatables and obstacle courses during opening weekend (May 24–26), complete with real firefighters, police officers, and forestry rangers showing off their gear and taking photos with wide-eyed junior recruits.

The programming runs all summer with themed weekends, including:

June 14–15: Water safety & wave science

July 5–6: Fire safety & eco-survival

Aug 9–10: Heat & temperature science

Aug 16–17: Aviation exploration (yes, there will be wind tunnels and bottle rockets)

In short: if your kids have ever asked “what’s it like to rescue someone?” or “can I fly that helicopter?”—this is the summer to lean in.

? Discovery Cube LA, 11800 Foothill Blvd, Sylmar
? Open daily 10 AM – 5 PM
?? Included with general admission or membership
? Don’t forget your camera for those hero selfies.
