British paint and wallpaper specialists Farrow & Ball has opened their first showroom in Santa Monica and recently had a lovely event to kick things off.
Farrow and Ball is known for their craftsmanship and attention to detail, and for only carrying 132 colors of paint in total. These colors do not change and Farrow & Ball does not offer seasonal variations.
Each color has its own inspiration, originating from a particular story, and the meaning of each is reflected in its name.
Brassica, Mizzle, Mole’s Breath, Yellowcake and Worsted are just a sample of the names one might best imagine being uttered by Downton Abbey’s Mr. Carson for the proper effect.
Farrow and Ball also carries wallpaper, created using their own paints and a traditional trough and block printing method.
If you’re able to get to the Santa Monica store, they can help you choose a color and finish of paint just right for the project you have in mind, but if you can’t get there in person, you can also request free color cards and wallpaper samples from their website.
