Flying Through the Air; An Amazing Day with LARABAR

An email came a few weeks ago asking if I wanted to take a trapeze class with the founder of LARABAR. I’m not afraid of heights, but I’m afraid of falling and I was never one of those kids who played on the monkey bars at school. I immediately said yes. It seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity plus it meant meeting the amazing entrepreneur and LARABAR Founder, Lara Merriken.

The class was at Trapeze School New York on Santa Monica Pier. It was terrifying climbing the ladder and thinking about grabbing the bar and taking off high, high into the air, but let me tell you, it was amazing! We were there because LARABAR was promoting their Uber LARABAR by giving everyone there, which included Savvy Sassy Moms’ Andrea Fellman, an Uber moment. And it was an most definitely an Uber moment. They started by strapping a harness on me (thank God). Plus, I was very fortunate that they had another harness for the GoPro Hero Camera that MomsLA was given. Not only would I swing from a trapeze, but every moment would be captured.

Once I was at the top of the ladder, it wasn’t as scary as I thought. I had the harness on and the woman from the trapeze school didn’t let go until I was 100 percent ready. In my head I thought I would have the grace of Mary Lou Retton, but it took two tries to get into this position.

It was a very surreal and I still can’t believe I did it. To see more of my Uber Moment and meet Lara Merriken, check out this video.

I tried this too. A friend told me how to dress and where to meet her, but she wouldn’t say what we were doing. This was probably good because I didn’t have a chance to chicken out. I wouldn’t say that I swung with the greatest of ease, but it was really fun!

    Go Yvonne!
