I love to have Ham for Easter, so when Farmer John offered to send over one of their hams and a new ham recipe for me to try, I said yes, please! This Farmer John Ham with Apple-Mustard Glaze is delicious – and very easy to make, which is always a nice bonus. They also sent over some all-natural bacon to use in a side dish, so I made potato salad with bacon.

The Farmer John smoked ham comes fully-cooked, so what you’re really doing is flavoring it and heating it through. I started by scoring the ham and adding cloves to each of the corners. Then I popped it in the oven for 90 minutes at 350 degrees.
While the ham was in the oven, I made the glaze, heating apple jelly and apple cider until they combined, and then adding Dijon mustard, mixing until smooth.
After 90 minutes in the oven, the ham comes out and gets its glaze on. Then it’s back in the oven for another 35 minutes. Really easy!
The results were terrific! I loved the flavor the glaze gave the ham. It’s a little sweet, but with a little bite from the mustard. And the sugar in the jelly gives the ham a caramelized crunch that I really enjoyed. And my guests all loved it, too.
Simple Potato Salad
The potato salad was my husband’s usual recipe, which is simple and tasty. He cuts the potatoes and boils them, then adds chopped celery and (lots of) chopped green onions, sprinkling on some chili pepper flakes for a little bite. He usually just mixes it all with mayonnaise and calls it a day. This time we added the Farmer John bacon, cooked and chopped into bite-sized pieces. It made a very nice addition and I think my husband may make it this way from now on!
