When: Now through Dec. 24, 2013
Where: Olvera Street, Los Angeles Street and Alameda Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Every year, Olvera Street hosts nine nights of celebration with Las Posadas. Posada means “shelter” and Las Posadas recreates Mary and Joseph’s journey to find shelter to have the baby Jesus. The festivities begin each evening at 5:30 in front of Olvera Street’s Avila Adobe, the oldest house in Los Angeles. Baile Folklorico dancers perform, children break a piñata, and a procession walks down the street holding candles and singing songs. Every night until Christmas, the procession gets larger so plan accordingly.
