Our family is deeply rooted in hockey and the New York Rangers. When we had the opportunity to work with Kaskey Kids to review their game, “Hockey Guys”, we were thrilled to host our own pretend Stanley Cup! Our four-year-olds are just learning the rules of sports games. They love to sit with their father and ask a lot of questions about his favorite sport.
When you take a look at the package it makes you smile — at least from a mother’s perspective. It has a lot of parts but it fits into a small container for easy storage. The pieces are all neatly packaged and fit easily into their little bin.
The players look just like small versions of NHL guys and they come with a real ice rink! The rink includes boards to make it look realistic. There are even two goals for the goal-tending players to guard. Every piece is easy to set up and take down. A large puck and referee round out the set to make it complete.

The boys took their players to the ice right away. The set is so realistic that imaginative play is very easy for them. They pretend to shoot the puck and defend the goal. Chants of “Let’s Go Rangers” could be heard throughout the kitchen as they made a whole playoff game. There’s nothing else out there quite like this set and the boys appreciated being able to make a hockey game with such a complete set.
Kaskey Kids Hockey Guys make great coaching presents too. A lot of youth hockey coaches use them as a visual training tool. Since it is easy to transport it can be brought to the ice rink! Although my boys don’t physically play hockey, they want to learn about the game so they can understand what is happening as we watch the playoffs as a family. They understand better when we talk about the guys on the ice with their new Hockey Guys set. I can explain what a forward is and how the goalie guards the net.
