There are so many choices for restaurants in Los Angeles, it can be hard to choose. But when Restaurant.com asked Sarah and I if we wanted to review a restaurant as part of their new ambassador program, I knew exactly where we were going.
Yesterday, we drove from West Los Angeles to Los Feliz to try Rockwell Table and Stage. It was well worth the drive. Rockwell, formerly Vermont Kitchen and Bar, is a restaurant, bar, and at night it opens up for live shows. We went for lunch to celebrate our kids going back to school and had a great time.
Because we were celebrating we started out with a cocktail. Sarah had a cherry mojito and I had a dry sparkling wine. Both were lovely.
Then we went on to a couple of appetizers, Ahi Tuna Tacos and Fried Green Tomatoes. The tuna was very fresh and delicious with the taro root shells.
The tomatoes were amazing and not too battered.
We chased that with a Fork Burger, which was a burger with no bun, barbecue sauce and blue cheese, laying on a bed of lettuce. The burger came with sweet potato fries (my favorite!) that were cooked perfectly (not too fried). The entire dish was very good.
Then came the Brussels Sprouts. They were good, but had a bit too much salt for out taste.
I love dessert and our helpful waiter suggested we get this one. It’s a cookie baked fresh in a skillet with ice cream, caramel, and chocolate. It was devine.
We sat on the pretty patio in the back that I can imagine is even better at night.
We paid for our lunch using Restaurant.com. It was our first time and it was very convenient. I registered for Restaurant.com, redeemed my gift certificate (I was supposed to have printed out the voucher, but Rockwell was nice enough to take it), and got my deal on my iPhone while Sarah drove us to the restaurant. As of today there are some very good deals for Rockwell (listed on Restaurant.com under its old name Vermont Kitchen) like a $50 gift certificate for $20.
We had an excellent time at Rockwell and it was a great way to celebrate the new school year.
