Tell Us About Your Favorite Los Angeles Teacher! Plus a Giveaway!

Teacher appreciation week is coming up on May 7 – 11, 2018 and we have a great giveaway to celebrate hard working teachers. We all have stories about a teacher who changed our lives or went out of their way for our children. Like my boys’ kindergarten teacher who taught them how important it is to be kind to one another or my son’s 6th grade math teacher who encouraged him to push himself when he wanted to give up.

We know that there are a lot of hard working teachers in LA who spend their own money on supplies or work above and beyond the hours that they are paid. Here’s a chance to give something back to them.

Do you have a story about a teacher who made an impact your life or child’s life? Someone who deserves something special?  We want you to tell us about them! All you need to do to enter is tell us why your favorite teachers deserves something special. We’re giving away the following prizes. See the Rafflecopter below for details on how to enter. Once you enter the rafflecopter, leave a comment telling us why your teacher is special to you.

Hands down Ms. Leyva. She taught all 3 of my children. She encourages, engages and explores. She made reading books the coolest thing a kid could do. She elevated each of her students with compliments. Ms. Leyva spent a lot of her paycheck on her students bringing items to the classroom to learn from, She taught students to love dancing for the performance and have kids their absolute best. She does so much for others that she deserves to be pampered.

Every child should have a Ms. Leyva in their lives.

Maestra Salmeron is THE kinder whisperer! She is THE “bucketfiller”. With her knowledge, kindnesss and patience she gets to know our babies’ strengths and needs and nurtures them into a wonderful community of bilingual learners. WE APPRECIATE YOU MAESTRA SALMERON!!!

I’m jumping in to mention that my kids have had a lot of great teachers at LAUSD schools – and Maestra Sara Telona Gutierrez is one of them! The way she works with kids and helps them grow is amazing. Plus you always know how much she loves the kids she teaches and her job. We love you!!

We would also like to nominate Sara Salmeron from Grnad View Blvd. Elementary. Not only is she a “bucket filler” as desecribed in the comment above, but she is dedicated to seeing all of her students succeed by working with kids and parents together. My daughter and I have been to three after school classes in Language Arts, Math and STEM that Sara Salmeron taught. She has been super helpful with getting my daughter extra help. She also has been remarkably sensitive to some social/ emotional issues my daughter has had. She is an all around fantastic teacher!

I’d love to nominate my daughter’s preschool teacher Jenny. I know I couldn’t remain energetic and happy from 7:30 AM-6:30 PM every day yet somehow Jenny does! Since she started going to the school, my daughter’s math and language skills have blossomed. She is also becoming fluent in Mandarin! My daughter now says please and thank you without prompting and is very eager to help out around the house. I can’t thank Jenny enough!

My teacher always works hard to grade my papers and I can talk to her whenever. She understands whatever I am going through and goes the extra mile to help me out if I have any questions or concerns.
