The Orange County Fair is a yearly tradition for many families. The Fair begins Friday, July 13th and continues through Sunday, August 12th where you can “free your inner farmer.” Families will enjoy live musical entertainment, shopping, exhibits, animals, rides, food, and more. 38th Annual Lotus Festival

The annual Lotus Festival is happening Saturday, July 14th and Sunday, July 15th from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm each day. This free event celebrates the arts and cultures of the Asian Pacific Regions. Families will enjoy live entertainment, arts and crafts, a food court, and more.
Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens
5333 Zoo Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90027
Celebrate World Chimpanzee Day at the L.A. Zoo on Saturday, July 14th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. A variety of special activities are planned throughout the day including “chimp chats,” an “enrichment demo,” and more. Families will learn about the threats facing these amazing creatures as well as conservation efforts. This special event is included in general Zoo admission ($21 for ages 13-61; $18 for those 62+; $16 for children 2-12; and free for children under 2).
Skirball Cultural Center
2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90049
The Skirball invites families to a special outdoor showing of Labyrinth (starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly) on Friday, July 13th. The film starts at 8:30 pm, and doors open at 6:30 pm. Be sure to arrive early to view the exhibition The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited. Admission is $12 for adults; $9 for children over 12 and full-time students; and $7 for children 2-12. Tickets are available online. (The film is rated PG).
Dorothy Green Park

The Santa Monica Public Library comes to the Dorothy Green Park on Saturday, July 14th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. This pop-up library experience includes a variety of family-friendly activities including story times, games, yoga, crafts, and more. Check the website for details.

The Hammer Museum invites children to dream and get productive at their Pop-Up Studio: Dreams for Your Neighborhood happening on Sunday, July 15th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Working with Made in L.A. 2018 artist Lauren Halsey, children will create their own prints and “turn them into tools for activism by mailing them to your local official.” The event is free (Museum admission is always free) and is recommended for children ages 5 and older.
Zimmer Children’s Museum

Celebrate National Ice Cream Day at the Zimmer Children’s Museum on Sunday, July 15th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This afternoon event features lots of fun including an art activity giving kids the chance to design their own “dream ice cream cones.” The event is included in general admission ($7.50 each; children under 1 are free).
