The intersection of sugar rush and skate culture just got its newest shrine: Voodoo Doughnut officially opened in Venice on Friday, June 13—because of course it did. The Portland-born purveyor of offbeat pastries is bringing its signature swirl of kitsch, chaos, and cream filling to 66 Windward Ave, just steps from the boardwalk.
If you’ve ever had a Voodoo Doll doughnut stare you down with a pretzel stake through its jelly-filled heart, you already know this isn’t your average cruller counter. But Venice is the perfect place for a little extra weird, and Voodoo is showing up ready to play. The first 50 guests on opening day will score a gift inspired by Venice’s iconic skate scene, and 20% of proceeds from the day will go to the LAFD Foundation—because behind all the glitter and glaze, Voodoo does community.

And speaking of Venice flair: there’s a limited-time-only Venice Peach doughnut—heart-shaped, peach Bavarian cream-filled, dipped in marbled “Voonilla” frosting, and finished with a bold “V.” It’s available through June 30, with partial proceeds also benefiting the LAFD Foundation. Sweet, in every sense.
Expect more than 40 doughnut varieties daily—including vegan options and hits like the Bacon Maple Bar, Memphis Mafia, and Oh Captain My Captain (yep, the one with Cap’n Crunch on top). And in classic Voodoo style, the Venice shop is art-forward and unapologetically extra. There’s a custom stained glass piece and a mural by LA’s Art of Chase, whose bold, psychedelic style feels right at home on the Westside.
After the grand opening, Voodoo Venice will be open daily from 7AM to midnight—perfect for early birds, late-night snackers, and anyone who believes dessert is best enjoyed with a side of absurdity.
It’s part pastry shop, part punk rock confessional, and totally Venice. Come for the doughnuts. Stay for the vibes.
