Walking or biking along the LA River is one of the fun things to do in Studio City with Kids

Valleyheart Greenway
(along the L.A. River)
Valleyheart Dr. and Radford Ave., Studio City, CA 91604

Charming” is the word that comes to mind when trying to describe the Valleyheart Greenway. It was imagined by elementary school students and designed by artists which would explain the “rattlesnake wall,” “great toad gate,” and the “butterfly garden” you’ll find here. Take a walk alongside the Los Angeles River and marvel at all you’ll see.

Studio City Recreation Center
12621 Rye St., Studio City, CA 91604

This popular park has a lot to offer. You’ll find both indoor and outdoor basketball courts, picnic tables, barbecue pits, tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a children’s play area, and an auditorium. They also host a variety of special events here including a summer camp, youth sports, adult classes, and more.

At Pinz Bowling Center, you’ll find plenty to do. Within their 60,000 square feet, they offer 32 bowling lanes as well as an arcade featuring more than 40 games. And for added convenience, you can reserve lanes in advance (either on the phone or online).

Wilacre Park
12601 Mulholland Dr., Studio City, CA 91604

If you’re looking for a place for the family to go out walking and/or hiking, check out Wilacre Park. This 128-acre park has a picnic area and a trail that will take you through different vegetation. It’s a popular spot with dog-walkers and those looking for fun, outdoor family time without the crowds you may find at other sites. (It is also sometimes referred to as Fryman Canyon).

Studio City Farmers Market
On Ventura Place between Laurel Canyon and Radford Ave.

At this neighborhood favorite, you’ll find a variety of vendors selling prepared foods, plants and flowers, fruits and vegetables, as well as specialty breads, olive oils, and more. Kids will love the abundance of activities just for them, including a climbing wall, train ride, petting zoo, and pony rides. And you can feel even better about your spending, knowing that proceeds after expenses are donated to a variety of local charities. The Studio City Farmers Market is open each Sunday (regardless of the weather) from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Carney’s Restaurant
12601 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604

Carney’s advertises itself as “probably the best hamburgers and hot dogs in the world.” It is one of two locations (the other is on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood). Kids (and adults) will be utterly charmed when they realize they actually get to eat their meal inside an old yellow Pacific Railroad passenger train. In addition to hamburgers, hot dogs, and French Fries, they also offer salads and sandwiches. And don’t forget to save room for dessert — frozen, chocolate-dipped bananas!

The Coop
11118 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA

A place for kids to play and parents to relax. For the parents, you’ll find an outdoor garden and a cappuccino bar. The kids will enjoy a ball pit, curly slide, bouncer, dress up area, reading corner, special electronic dance and gaming floor, and more. Open play is held Monday through Friday.

Woodbridge Park
11240 Moorpark St., Studio City, CA 91602

This small pocket park, offers children’s play areas, picnic tables, and a trail for those who wish to stroll or jog. The two children’s play areas are separated — one for younger kids and one for older, bigger kids. You’ll also find a workout section here as well.

Weddington Golf and Tennis
4141 Whitsett Ave., Studio City, CA 91604

Weddington Golf and Tennis has been a fixture in Studio City for over fifty years. It offers 16 tennis courts, a 24-stall driving range, and a 9-hole golf course. You can go to play, practice, and/or take a lesson. Another unexpected bonus, and perfect for the upcoming days of summer, are the extended hours you’ll find here. Most nights, Weddington is open until 10:30 pm.

Studio City Branch Library
12511 Moorpark St., Studio City, CA 91604

This branch of the Los Angeles Public Library system offers a variety of special events. Check the website for an updated events list, but recent events included live musical performances, a sushi-making class for teens, adult coloring, and more. The Campo de Cahuenga
3919 Lankershim Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604
