Silver Lake is the neighborhood between East Hollywood, Echo Park, and Los Feliz.  You can spend a day browsing and shopping at the variety of independent shops you’ll find here, but there’s also plenty of kid-friendly activities as well.

Silver Lake Reservoir
1854 to 2246 Silver Lake Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90026

If you’re trying to get the family out and moving but don’t want to head too far, the Silver Lake Reservoir is for you. Go for a stroll and/or jog and enjoy a different perspective on a different part of L.A.

Silver Lake Recreation Center
1850 W. Silver Lake Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90026

The Silver Lake Recreation Center is the place for community-based classes and activities. Here you’ll find classes, a children’s play area, picnic areas, and more. Classes include children’s yoga, soccer, basketball, and more.

Silver Lake Library
2411 Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90039

Sometimes a public library can offer a respite from a day of doing too much.  Inside, let the kids roam and explore, and remember that whatever they want to take home, won’t cost you anything (as long as you’ve got your LAPL library card with you). The library also offers various programs and storytelling on select days and times.

Sunset Junction Coffee Shop
3916 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90029

When it’s time to eat, head to this neighborhood favorite. It’s a kid and dog-friendly restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner (with breakfast served all day). For kids, they’ve got the classics — eggs, pancakes, grilled cheese, chicken strips, as well as a special treat of Nutella pancakes! They’re open 8 am to 9 pm daily.

Sunset Triangle Plaza
(where Griffith Park Blvd. and Sunset Blvd. meet)

Sunset Triangle Plaza is a car-free, pedestrian zone with large polka dots on the sidewalk. Wander around, grab a snack, and then sit, relax, and take a look around. Perfect place for the kids to bring a ball and have a ball. It’s also the sight of a Farmers Market every Tuesday (from 2:00 to 7:30 pm) and Saturday (9:00 am to 1:00 pm). You’ll find produce, various vendors, and an assortment of snack choices (many include vegetarian and/or gluten-free options).
