Southern California has two terrific, kid-friendly museums dedicated to hands-on science education, and your whole family can have fun at Discovery Cube Los Angeles and at the original Discovery Cube Orange County location in Santa Ana.
MomsLA sent writer Esther Chang and her family to check it out and report back, so read on to find out about all the great things Discovery Cube has to offer.

A Family Explores Discovery Cube Los Angeles
Our family was so excited to be invited to check out Discovery Cube now that they have re-opened. We visited the Los Angeles location which had plenty of free parking and a huge park next door (for parents who want to make an extended day out of the trip).
The STEM and discovery activities each catered to our girls (age 2 and 6) in different ways. Our 6 year old loved the iPad scavenger hunts, exhibit activities, and building cars/planes. Our 2 year old loved the interactive exhibits and touching everything her hands could push and pull.

Featured Activity at Discovery Cube Los Angeles
Upstairs there is an open area where the exhibits/interactive activity changes. Right now there is a raceway exhibit. You can build your own car and test it out on their many raceway tracks. Incredibly fun for the whole family.
Other Exhibits at Discovery Cube Los Angeles
Build your own airplane and fly it in their airplane launcher!
Hockey Exhibit where you can pretend to be a hockey player and learn what it takes to train for one.

Recycling plant: Kids can sort the items for a chance to win the game.
Grocery store: Pick up a shopping cart and scan all the items listed in the grocery list. Those that find all the right items can have their photo taken and displayed on the greatest shopper wall.
Physics stations: Ever think about gravity and pulleys? Well we certainly didn’t realize how much one vs multiple pulleys help in our everyday life. Check out their fun interactive exhibits where kids can try lifting logs and themselves to test out the best and easiest pulley system.
Wind/Climate Exhibits: Go inside a wind simulating machine or release some scarves in a wind tunnel. Experience what is happening in our environment first hand.
Energy efficient Home: A fun activity for older kids. They can grab a tablet and walk around the play home looking for ways to save energy and conserve water.
Since we visited Discovery Cube, our girls have talked non-stop about the fun things they learned. They cannot wait to go back!
Dining at Discovery Cube
Both Discovery Cube locations have a counter-service restaurant called Bean Sprouts, which is known for their kid-friendly options, as well as for offering many menu choices for those with food allergies and sensitivities. They serve sandwiches, soups, salads, pizza, a choice of beverages, and even some dessert treats.
