There are thousands of parks in Los Angeles for parents to have fun with their kids. This week, we’re exploring Mar Vista park in West LA.

Play area:
There is one play area in this park that is suitable for toddlers and up. The sand surface can be hard on new walkers. The play area is on the small side compared to the rest of the park, but it’s nicely located next to the bathrooms, parking lot and picnic tables so it’s easy to have a family day. This playground has both bucket and regular swing seats and there are two areas for big and little kids to play. Over the weekend this playground can get crowded to go early in the morning or later in the afternoon.
Amenities:
Mar Vista Park is one of the largest parks on the Westside and serves as the main park for many neighboring areas. On-site there is a community center, pool, baseball field, soccer field, hockey rink, basketball courts, volleyball courts, outdoor fitness equipment, jogging path, kitchen, multipurpose sports field, picnic tables, playground, barbecue pits, free parking, stage, synthetic field, and so much more. In addition to all the amenities, Mar Vista Park has a preschool on-site and a seasonal camp for toddlers (summer only) and children entering grades K-10th. There is something for everyone at this park!
Parking:
There are two free parking lots, one by the soccer field and one by the play area. Otherwise there is plenty of street parking around the park.
Where to grab a coffee or snack:
Mar Vista Park is very close to Palms, Mar Vista and West Los Angeles shopping areas. Within a 2-mile radius there are easily 40+ places to eat, grab coffee, go grocery shopping, fill up on gas, etc. Three Major intersections to find a shopping center is Palms Blvd and Sepulveda Blvd., National Blvd & S. Barrington Ave., and Sawtelle Blvd. and National Blvd.
Vibe:
Palms Park is cozy and family friendly. This park is for everyone. Groups of friends who want to play sports, families coming for a picnic, organized leagues that want to host sporting events, joggers running along the paths, people coming to use the work out equipment or walk their dogs on the wide multipurpose lawn, etc. There is something for everyone here at Mar Vista Park. It’s the perfect spot for all ages, sizes, and groups of people.
