The months are flying by, and before you know it, winter will be upon us. Time to start thinking about where to play in the snow near Los Angeles. But first, you need snow gear and if your kids are growing like ours, last year’s won’t fit anymore. To help out, we’ve compiled a list of Where to Buy Snow Gear In and Around Los Angeles.
Where to Get Snow Gear for Kids

At Columbia Sportswear Outlet, you can find all the gear you may need to enjoy all the outdoor activities our state has to offer. Sports LTD in Woodland Hills has about five decades of experience. You’ll find snowboards and specialty skis here (as well as paddle boards and surfboards). Additionally, they offer on-site boot fitters as well as repair shop technicians. And if you’re not quite ready to commit to purchasing snow gear, look into their ski rental and snowboard rental programs. Loyal customers also speak highly of the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Dick’s Sporting Goods

Families will find a large selection of winter gear at the popular Dick’s Sporting Goods stores. Whether your family regularly visits the mountains or you’ll be making your first trip to the snow, you can find what you need in one spot. Winter apparel, sleds, helmets, boots, and much more are all available in one of their store locations or online. Summit Ski and Cycle

Summit Ski and Cycle has been family-owned and operated for over 25 years. You’ll find skis and snowboards here, and repairs and tune-ups are done on-site as well. Gear, such as gloves, goggles, hats, and thermal underwear, are also stocked here. Additionally, if you’re hesitant to purchase snow gear, the rental shop at Summit features a large selection of skis, snowboards, and boots for the family. The shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Ski Dazzle Show

According to their website, “The Los Angeles Ski Show & Snowboard Expo® features 2 Football Fields of Resorts, Lodging, Accessories and Retail bargains up to 70% off. Ski Dazzle offers FREE informative seminars, prizes, entertainment, ski & snowboard lessons, climbing wall, golf lessons and more.” Scheduled for December 4-6, 2020.
Ski and Snowboard Outlet

Families can shop at the 12,000-square foot store in San Gabriel where you’ll find hundreds of snowboards, skis, accessories, and outerwear options for the whole family. At the Ski and Snowboard Outlet, they “make skiing and snowboarding affordable.” The store is open seasonly and recently opened on September 16th, 2020 with safe health department practices in place.

Established in 2001, XB (Xtreme Boardshop) is well-known among snowboarders. Their goal is “to fuse action sports with lifestyle trends.” Families will find snowboards, boots, gloves, helmets, googles, and more here. At this time, only the Santa Ana location is open.
Olympus Board Shop

Olympus Board Shop opened back in 1998. This popular South Bay shop is known for their skateboarding and snowboarding gear (though they do also stock surfing and kayaking gear too). In addition to the products they sell, Olympus also specializes in rentals and repairs. Their snowboard gear includes boards, goggles, gloves, helmets, and more. REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.)

Many families are familiar with the wide selection offered at REI. Anything your family might need for fun in the snow can be found at REI. Many families are aware of the long-lasting quality of Patagonia apparel. You’ll find clothing in a range of sizes to outfit the entire family, including jackets, hats, mittens, snow pants, and more. (At this time, both the Santa Monica and Pasadena locations are open for curbside pickup only.)
Ski Net Sports

At Ski Net Sports, families receive special attention they may not get at other shops. They have “over 40 years experience fitting ski boots.” They also custom fit snowboard boots; ice, hockey, and inline skates; hiking and mountaineering boots; and bicycle and running shoes. Call ahead to make an appointment for a custom fitting. (As of September 2020, they remain temporarily closed.)
