Whatever you call it, coffee is a way of life for many Los Angelenos and that’s why we’ve curated a list of the 10 Best Coffee Shops in LA that aren’t just a place grab a cup of beans, but a place to gather, socialize and enjoy nature’s caffeine bounty.

The Best Coffee Spots in Los Angeles

Bricks and Scones
403 North Larchmont Boulevard, Los Angeles 90004

Bricks and Scones is a family run coffee shop that offers a cozy place to get a cup of coffee in a snug and warm atmosphere. In the study, each patron of Bricks and Scones can have their own desk and lamp to really get some work done in a quiet space. They also serve a variety of sandwiches, salads, and breakfast as well as the highest-quality coffee and a wide selection of teas from Lupicia Fresh Tea.

Alana’s Coffee Roasters
12511 Venice Blvd., Mar Vista 90066

Located right on the bike path along the vibrant Venice Blvd., Alana’s has outdoor seating in front and back, and there’s always a line. Get there early if you want a spot to sit, because it’s been popular since the day it opened. They roast their beans on site, and there’s abundant parking – a rarity in LA.

Taza Coffee House

Taza focuses on serving an amazing cup of coffee in a friendly and social atmosphere. Located in the heart of Arcadia, Taza believes in the power of coffee as a vehicle to amazing social interactions. Featuring hand crafted espresso and coffee drinks made to order, Sugarbloom pastries and Fosselman’s ice cream Taza is more than just a coffee shop, it’s a way of life.

Verve Coffee Roasters
Multiple locations, including 8051 W. 3rd Street, Los Angeles 90048

Verve was created in Santa Cruz but has expanded to not one but three locations throughout Los Angeles. Their newest location on 3rd Street has quickly become the go-to spot for LA locals for a cup of beans. Verve has started the farm level initiative that bridges the gap between farm level and street level to provide a divine cup of fair trade coffee.

Urth Caffe
Multiple locations, including 2327 Main St., Santa Monica 90405

Founded in 1989 as a company selling non-toxic and natural products for the home, Urth Caffe has become a large proponent in the organic and natural coffee industry. “Urth” is an old Welsh root spelling of Earth and “Caffe” is Italian for coffee and to them “Urth Caffe” means ancient, earthly, natural coffee beans, or organic, heirloom coffee. With five locations throughout Los Angeles and the newest shop in Laguna Beach, Urth Caffe offers the best cup of joe.

Established in 1995 in Chicago, Intelligentsia has quickly expanded to three shops in Los Angeles. The shop in Pasadena is the third established in LA and the largest.  Brewing on a temperamental 12-kilo roaster, Intelligentsia coffees are fresh roasted daily in vintage German roasters which give its coffee a distinct taste. Each of the Intelligentsia locations In Los Angeles offer their own unique atmosphere and vibe that reflects the spirit of the neighborhood it’s located in.

LAMILL

With headquarters in Alhambra, CA, LAMILL Coffee is on a roast-to-order philosophy, which guarantees absolute perfection in every cup. Located in Silverlake, their retail boutique offers drip coffee that may be enjoyed in a variety of methods, including Clover, Chemex, Siphon, Eva Solo and French Press. They also serve espresso drinks, using a one of a kind, hand-pounded brass La Marzocco espresso machine. In addition, they have a wide variety of tea offerings, specialty drinks and signature drinks, including Hong Kong Milk Tea, Green Tea Mojito, Cafe Con Leche, Coffee & A Jelly Donut, and even a Pink Lady, which is sweetened berry hibiscus tea topped with soda.

Coffee Commissary

The Coffee Commissary strives to pursue the perfect cup of coffee and with several shops spread across Los Angeles, finding the perfect cup is just around the corner. The atmosphere is relaxed and cool and their signature drinks such as the Commissary Cubano are amazing. Coffee beans from Portland’s Coava Coffee Roasters and Seattle’s Victrola Coffee Roasters are always on special and the Espresso drinks are churned out with hand made care using their 2 Group La Marzocco Strada machine.

Menotti’s Coffee Stop

Located in sun-filled Venice Beach, Menotti’s offers the charm, friendly service and great coffee that keeps customers coming back. Menotti’s brews San Francisco’s Four Barrel coffee which has recently become popular thanks to its old-fashioned roasting style and taste.
