Christmas means family. And families must eat. But if you’d rather not spend hours in the kitchen, there are plenty of restaurants all around Los Angeles that will be open Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day and that make lovely settings for memorable family holiday meals.

Pacific Dining Car

94th Aero Squadron Restaurant

If you need a restaurant that also offers an exciting location, the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant may be the place. Located next to the Van Nuys Airport, this charming French chateau proudly displays uniforms and wartime artifacts in the lobby, making it a perfect spot for visiting family members. The Restaurant will be offering a Christmas Day Champagne Buffet served from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm featuring such classics as holiday ham and herb-crusted prime rib. Pacific Dining Car, a popular family-owned and family-run restaurant, invites families to enjoy a special Christmas meal at one of their two locations. Both restaurants will offer a special Christmas menu including slow-roasted USDA prime rib, though their regular menu will also be available as well. Holiday hours for both locations will be the same as always – they are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Off Vine Restaurant

Celebrate Christmas Eve in a historic Hollywood bungalow. Off Vine is offering a special three-course meal on Christmas Eve from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Enjoy some old-Hollywood glamour as you dine in this charming restaurant (it was built back in 1908). Entrees include a choice of Filet Mignon, Homemade Pasta, Roasted New Zealand Lamb Chops, Free Range Chicken Breast, and more. Cost is $75 per person (not including tax, gratuity, or beverage). Roy’s is serving a three-course Christmas Dinner so that instead of spending time cooking and cleaning, you and your family can spend time enjoying good food and good times. Enjoy Caesar Salad or Lobster Bisque, Slow Roasted Chateaubriand, and either Chocolate Torte or Cinnamon Brioche Bread Pudding. Cost is $59.95 per guest. 

Cattle & Claw

Cattle & Claw, located within the Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, is serving a special Christmas Day menu. The special buffet features chestnut soup; salads; main entrees including Slow Roasted Goose, Maple Glazed Ham, and Baked Halibut Provencal; side dishes; and dessert. Reservations may be made online. $65 per person; $30 for children 12 and younger. 

Nick + Stef’s Steakhouse

Nick + Stef’s Steakhouse combines “steakhouse tradition and culinary flair.” They are hosting a special Christmas Eve dinner from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Families may select from dry-aged steaks, fresh seafood, signature sides, as well as festive desserts. Reservations may be made online.

If you’ve got family visiting from out of town, treat them to dinner and an incredible view at Back Bay Bistro “Where the Scene Meets the Cuisine.” Their 5-course Christmas Eve Dinner is being served from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Main courses include a choice of Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb, Chicken Marsala, or Center Cut Filet of Beef. (A vegetarian option is available upon request). Ruth’s Chris Steak House

Families can enjoy a meal at Ruth’s Chris Steak House either on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. The Woodland Hills location will be open from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Christmas Eve and 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Christmas Day.  In addition to their regular menu, the restaurant is also offering a special Holiday Surf & Turf meal as well as Ruth’s 3-course Holiday Menu. Ray’s and Stark Bar
Located at LACMA

Enjoy the sights at LACMA, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and a fine meal at Ray’s and Stark Bar. A special menu of such seasonal offerings is available (including Duck Confit and a Whole Fried Snapper for Two) as well as their a la carte menu (for those family members who may be a bit more picky). They are serving from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm on Christmas Eve. Reservations may be made online.
