LA Parents, are you looking for a new private school option? Meet Stratford School, with two new locations in Southern California: Altadena and Los Angeles.

Stratford provides a unique educational experience for children with a balanced approach to support every aspect of a child’s development. Stratford School’s formula for success combines high academic standards, a caring culture, and a warm, passionate faculty who foster curiosity and achievement in each student.

The Stratford STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) delivers academic rigor, critical and analytical skills, innovation, and exposure to fine arts, with both teacher-led and student-led learning activities.

At Stratford School, teachers encourage children to question “what is” and then inspire them to think “what if?” The school’s philosophy of “summa spes, summa res,”means “highest hopes, highest things,” which encapsulates Stratford’s belief that all children can achieve when given the opportunity to succeed.

Stratford School Leadership

Cheryl Molenkamp, Director of the Lower School at the new Los Angeles campus, located in Hollywood, has over 20 years of experience in the field of education. Before helping launch this location, Cheryl was a teacher, principal, and regional director for Stratford in Northern California. Cheryl knows how important it is for each child to have a teacher who truly believes in them and recognizes the special gift they can bring to the world.” A great school experience can change the trajectory of a child’s life,” Molenkamp says.

Judy Burbank has over 20 years of experience in the field of education. Before taking on her role as Head of School at the Altadena Allen campus, Judy served as a Principal at one of Stratford School’s Northern California campuses.

Judy feels honored to be a part of Stratford School’s expansion to Southern California. She is looking forward to hiring passionate faculty who foster curiosity and achievement in each student, and who create a caring educational environment. Whether it’s singing a new song or learning about the solar system, Judy loves being a part of developing curiosity in children.

Stratford’s Admission Process

Stratford School welcomes new students throughout the school year. Unlike many private schools, Stratford does not require family interviews, recommendation letters, or child play dates. The school year tuition is all-inclusive. There is no fundraising for school support or required parent volunteer hours, although parent participation is welcomed.
