HAWKs LA (Hiking Adventures With Kids)
Type: Adventure Camp, Art & Nature, Day Camp, Nature, Outdoors
Our fully-outdoor camps encourage children’s sense of wonder about the natural world, familiarize them with local flora and fauna, teach them the fundamentals of hiking, trail safety, and LNT (Leave No Trace), and instill in them a deep sense of connection to the outdoors.
The diverse biomes across Los Angeles are our outdoor classrooms where teachers guide participants on foot to experience wonder and connection.
Our experienced educators are trained naturalists who know how to connect students to the natural world in a fun and safe way! Activities vary by day, environment and group interest, but include hiking, herping, bird watching, journaling, nature crafts (dream catchers, mandalas, seed bombs, insect hotels), nature-focused games, foraging, and more!
HAWKs LA outdoor classrooms are the greenspaces in Los Angeles. Prior to each camp, the counselors will provide a line-up of the day or week’s locations in Northeast or West LA.

Ocean Explorers Liveaboard Camp offers coed campers ages 11-17 the opportunity to explore the islands of Channel Islands National Park, both above and below water. Our ecology-based program is fluid and follows the weather, allowing the group to kayak through sea caves, snorkel through kelp forests, surf, and hike across the islands. Taking place on a custom-built expedition vessel, this micro version of a semester at sea is the perfect ratio of adventure to learning, resulting in a respect and adoration for the marine environment that lasts a lifetime. Campers return with knowledge about island ecology, marine biology, geography, astronomy, resource conservation, and seamanship, all gained from their time aboard.
