CalArts Summer Art Intensive for High School Students

Description:

Students 14-17 years old participate in a series of workshops and critiques led by CalArts faculty and alumni, attend artist talks and screenings, explore methods and spend time in the studio developing skills and making art.

Residential students will live in Chouinard Hall, CalArts’ BFA dorms, and both residential and commuter students will be able to participate in daily activities such as film screenings, games in the recreation hall or open swim in the CalArts pool. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a field trip to Disneyland for an additional fee. All levels welcome to apply.

LA’s premier week-long summer tech camps for budding programmers, future video game designers, VR lovers, app developers, robotics engineers, 3D modelers & animators, and just plain technology fans!

Our curriculum is incredibly fun AND educational, focusing on strengthening STEAM. It is even supported by educational specialists out of the Harvard and Stanford Graduate Schools of Education and MIT Media Lab. We take great pride in hearing from others that we are the most educational tech camp out there. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean that we don’t allow fun at our camps. Our project-based learning model allows students to have a blast and build confidence as they create their own unique projects using code, robotics, digital art, and more!

Our 35+ summer STEM camps offer the latest in technology, giving campers the opportunity to take their creativity to new heights, turn their ideas into reality, and gain the tools to achieve and exceed their goals. Our campers can learn how to Design Websites, Build and Code Robots, Work with Artificial Intelligence, Create Custom Converse & Vans Sneakers, Produce Digital Music, Join a Digital Rock Band, Mod in Minecraft, Design Games in Roblox, Compete in National Minecraft, Roblox, and Fortnite Tournaments, Code in Java and Python, Become YouTube Casters, Use Green Screens, Build Games and Apps, Train in Esports, Learn Digital Citizenship, and so much more!

We offer early arrival and extended day, catered lunches, and sports options at recess – there are plenty of opportunities for exercise, fresh air, socialization and fun.  Campers may also elect to relax during this time and/or participate in fun team-building games.

Register for anywhere from 1 week to 10 weeks. Regular camp hours – Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 3:30pm.  Early drop off at 8am (optional) and Extended day until 6pm (optional).

Tuition ranges from $689/week to $789/week.  This does not include our multi-week promotional discount, additional sibling discount, or our new family referral program (receive $50 to $100 off per new family referred).  See our website for details.

Camp Wildfolk

Camp Wildfolk is a wildly-fun and unique Day Camp, centrally located at 2 locations (West Hollywood & Valley Village), blending “old-school” camp spirit with a progressive, camper-centered approach.

Campers are given the autonomy to influence their experience by choosing class electives. Wildfolk is a hands-on, project-based adventure, where kids teambuild, explore, create, and innovate.

Galileo Innovation Camps for Pre-K – 8th Graders

At Galileo, we mix the fun of traditional day camp with thoughtfully crafted, hands-on projects in fields from science and engineering to the visual and culinary arts. Supported by the boundless energy of the best staff around, campers grow with us from pre-K through 8th grade, emerging as confident creators ready to express themselves fearlessly and turn their ideas into reality. We call them Galileo Innovators, and they will change the world.

Camp Galileo (pre-K – 5th grades): Campers craft extraordinary works of art, engineer incredible inventions and spend plenty of time outdoors building teamwork skills. Three engaging weekly themes to choose from.

Galileo Summer Quest (Entering 5th – 8th grades): Campers choose a different subject every week, creating go-karts, gourmet confections, robot pets and more.
