Project Scientist has a fun-filled program for your daughter this summer. Over the course of six weeks, girls ages 4-12 will participate in fun-filled experiments, exciting field trips to top science and technology companies, and interactive seminars with women thriving in the STEM field. They will learn about the science of crime, transportation, DNA, and more!
All Aboard! Transportation: Past, Present and Future – No matter the destination, we’ll tinker with different transit vehicles to get you there by air, space, road, water, and more! We’ll learn how transportation systems work together to keep us moving and tinker with tried and true vehicles to create new platforms for efficient mobility.
Coding & Gaming – Computer programming code runs the world. We’ll learn basic and advanced techniques for creating code for computers, video games and more using interactive platforms such as Roblox.
Genetics, DNA, and Dissection – What does a brain really look like? How does the circulatory system work? What determines eye color? We’ll spend the week dissecting and analyzing what makes each of us unique. We will study Gregor Mendel and his peas, Punnett squares/pedigrees and DNA all week long. Campers should feel comfortable with age appropriate dissections to attend this camp.
How It’s Made – Let’s get our hands dirty as we uncover how things are made! We’ll take apart and breakdown well-known and beloved items and gain appreciation for the processes and people who make them.
Robotics & AI – Join us as we dive into the world of AI through robotics. We’ll use various platforms to build models, use sensors and motors and configure behaviors to design our own robots. As our robots come to life, we’ll test our models with challenges fostering creativity and innovation.
Science of Crime – Real Life and Online – Become a forensics expert by solving both in person and online crimes through analyzing evidence. Digital crime is on the rise and we’ll learn how to protect ourselves and others through cybersecurity.

Spring Break and Summer are wonderful opportunities for childhood exploration, sunny days outside, and… science! At our Aquarium Science Camp, we bounce from live ocean animal and wildlife exhibits, to the classroom, and out to the beach!
The experience is all fun with just the right amount of hands-on learning. Campers interact with hundreds of local marine species while making new friends. If your kiddo enjoys doing science experiments, playing games, digging for sand crabs, making arts and crafts, and having fun, then dive into camp at Heal the Bay’s Aquarium under the Santa Monica Pier.

Exploration, Inspiration, Fun, and Friends Await You at Our 2019 Summer Exploration Camps!
Summer at the Child Educational Center is where the fun is! Whether you choose our Exploration Day Camp series, Descanso Discoveries specialty camp, or our Summer Enrichment Camp, your child(ren) will have a stimulating, adventure-filled experience as they play, discover, and explore at our locations in La Cañada. CEC’s Summer Exploration Camps are for children entering 1st through 7th grade, with select opportunities for children entering Kindergarten.
Exploration Day Camp
Our nine-week Exploration Day Camp series offers weekly themed activities, swimming, field trips, arts and crafts, science, and sports. Each week includes at least one field trip and a visit by a special guest. Children have the opportunity to go swimming, spend time playing and exploring with friends outdoors, and participate in creative and stimulating indoor activities and clubs.
Join us for discovery and adventure in Descanso Gardens’ beautiful outdoor settings. Children will tend to an edible garden, prepare healthy snacks from Descanso’s bountiful gardens, and investigate the wonders of our natural world through art and science-based activities.
Summer Enrichment Camp
Our Summer Enrichment Camp offers flexible options for all schedules. Schedules can be mixed and matched to complement a summer school schedule, or if children not enrolled in summer school just want to join for a morning and/or afternoon or two. Specialized weekly themes include Ooey Gooey Science, Build, Sew, Knit and Game Academy. Field trips, enriching activities, special guests, and swimming are all part of the fun!
Put on your traveling shoes and come meet CIEE to learn how you can study abroad during the summer. Three types of programs are offered in over 40 destinations: Language & Culture programs in seven different languages, Service & Leadership programs in areas like children’s rights or education, and Global Discovery programs in marine science and global entrepreneurship, to name a few.
