Camp Wildcraft

Type: Art & Nature

Description:

At Camp Wildcraft we grow creative, curious, confident & caring kids who feel at home in nature. At our two sites at King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas and The Sycamore School in Malibu, our adventurous art and nature camp empowers kids to discover the hidden natural world—and their hidden strengths. Campers make new friends, take daily hikes along the trails and creeks, create big art projects, paint and draw, sculpt in wood and clay, sketch in their handmade nature journals, do theatre, build forts, play together with wild freedom and much more! Campers choose from a changing menu of creative and fun activities every afternoon. Camp Wildcraft is small by design, so space is limited.  For ages 5 to 11 (entering K through end of 5th grade). We also have a Junior Guide Leadership Program for middle schoolers and a Guide-In-Training Program for high school students.

Two locations:

King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas, 26800 Mulholland Highway, at the intersection of Mulholland Highway and Las Virgenes Road

The Sycamore School, Malibu, 3504 Las Flores Canyon off the Pacific Coast Highway

CEC’s Summer Exploration Camps are for children entering 1st through 7th grade, with select opportunities for children entering Kindergarten.

Exploration Day Camp
Our nine-week Exploration Day Camp series offers weekly themed activities, swimming, field trips, arts and crafts, science, and sports. Each week includes at least one field trip and a visit by a special guest. Children have the opportunity to go swimming, spend time playing and exploring with friends outdoors, and participate in creative and stimulating indoor activities and clubs.

City Seedlings Summer Camp

Type: Academic, Art & Nature, Cooking, Day Camp, Gardening

Description:

During two, week-long sessions, City Seedling campers will play, explore, learn, and help tend Garden School Foundation’s 1.5-acre organic garden at 24th Street Elementary School in Historic West Adams. Campers will learn how to propagate and care for plants, make compost, and harvest crops. They will dive into the science behind growing food, the life cycles of worms, plant adaptation, and much more. During cooking classes, campers will use their newfound gardening skills to harvest ingredients and prepare their own lunches in our on-site kitchen. Younger campers will gain the basic kitchen skills and confidence to chop, grate, peel, and dress their own fresh foods, while older campers will take on more complex recipes and experiment with pickling, preserving, and fermenting.

By offering a content-rich, hands-on experience in an outdoor living laboratory, we inspire kids to reconnect to nature and deepen their interest in life sciences. Campers will join the growing ranks of GSF junior chef/gardeners – the next generation of healthy food advocates and environmental warriors!
