Lights! Camera! …Act One! Welcome to Act One Theatre Camp, a dynamic and interactive theatre experience where campers, ages 6-15, will spend each and every day acting, singing, dancing, and more! Join us as we rock out in our unique and exciting classes on the Glendale Community College campus. Whatever class they’re in, be it acting or movie-making, make-up or dance, or singing or improv… the spotlight will follow them the whole time! Campers will create and star in their own theatrical adventures, and will showcase their amazing talents for the whole family to enjoy at our end-of-camp Big Show. SOCAPA offers Teen Summer Camps & Intensives specializing in Filmmaking, Photography, Dance, Music, Acting, Screenwriting, Drama and Musical Theater. Join the next generation of visual and performing artists at SOCAPA—the School of Creative and Performing Arts. With summer intensives ranging in length from two to six weeks, and campuses in Los Angeles, New York City and Burlington, Vermont, there’s no excuse for not taking action. Find out more!

Since its inception, SOCAPA has quickly become one of the premier visual and performing arts programs for young people in the world. Our students travel from across the United States and all corners of the globe to participate in our Summer Camps & Intensives in the Arts. Whether a novice or an advanced student, each is dedicated to working hard and gaining the most that they can for the length of the program. Our teachers are leaders in their field and love teaching at SOCAPA. Many of our founding faculty are with us today! They are dedicated to their craft and to passing on their knowledge to the next generation of artists. Our support staff care deeply about the safety, education, and social experience of the students. They work tirelessly to ensure that each student has a rewarding experience at SOCAPA. This combined effort allows for our students to have one of the most fulfilling experiences of their lives.

LA Opera Connects Opera Camp

AN UNFORGETTABLE SUMMER OPERA EXPERIENCE

Join Opera Camp and let our teaching artists help you find your voice. Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary. You just have to want to express yourself through music.

Opera Camp is an enriching two-week program where you will develop your artistic abilities in an intense, fun-filled experience, running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.* At the end of camp, students will perform a fully-staged opera in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, inspired by the stories of our unique communities.

Week 1: July 22-26 (Monday through Friday)
Week 2: July 29-August 3 (Monday through Saturday)

There will be coaching sessions for some performers before camp begins – dates and times TBA
*Some rehearsals may run until 4pm.

THINGS TO KNOW
Opera Camp is open to students ages 9-17.
We ask that all campers sign up for an audition so that we can get to know you (details in application).
Tuition: $1,000 per student for the two-week program. Limited need-based scholarships are available – please see the details in the sign-up form.
Upon acceptance, tuition will be due no later than one week before camp begins.

Mixon Musical Theatre Summer Camp

Description:

The best way to grow is to perform a show! That’s been our motto every summer at Mixon Musical Theatre Day Camp as we create a Theatrical Production with your children. Our campers spend their day acting, singing, dancing, designing sets, and managing props – with additional instruction in aerial silks, visual arts construction, plus mindfulness meditation and yoga. All these combine to create a beautiful show and an exciting growth experience for your youngsters. Because we incorporate technical theatre elements, ALL children have the chance to create and take pride in many aspects of the process. Our 3 weeks of rehearsal culminate in a performance of “MATILDA the Musical” on the final 2 days of camp. Come have fun and learn together as we use the business of show to help your kids grow!

Young People’s Camp
Starts Monday, July 15 2024 and runs Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays for three weeks, Young People’s Camp introduces your young child to the imaginative world of Shakespeare and classical theatre.

Youth Drama Camp Session 1: Workshop (Get 10% OFF Session 2 when you sign up for both sessions!)
Starts Monday, June 17, 2024, and runs Monday-Friday for two weeks. Students ages 8-14 work with expert teaching artists will to explore a Shakespeare play, culminating in a share celebrating all they’ve learned.

Youth Drama Camp Session 2: Production (Get 10% OFF Session 2 when you sign up for both sessions!)
Starts Monday, July 1, 2024, and runs Monday-Friday for three weeks. Students ages 8-14 will take technique-based classes as well as rehearse and present a final performance of a Shakespearean play.

Teen Shakespeare Intensive
Starts Monday, July 8, 2024. Students ages 14-18 work with professional artists on classical theatre techniques in our beloved Teen Summer Shakespeare Intensive.
